Here we sit at Corynne & Scott's waiting to go to the airport. Can you believe that even with all our past travels, we still couldn't sleep last night! What's with that? The weather here in Victoria is beautiful - a wonderful autumn day in BC! Yet neither of us can hardly wait to be in the 37 degree heat of Victoria Falls. It will take us two full days to get there. We fly from Victoria to Vancouver then to London then Johannesburg and finally to Victoria Falls. Of course there is wait time at each stop. Shirley has packed little snacks for each leg of our flights. We are not sure if they will let us bring any of it on board the plane. If not, we will feed everyone at our gate!
Oh yes I have to mention that our very good friend Rod, who writes wonderful books and edits other people's works has informed me that our title "The Spry's African Adventure" is incorrect. It should read "The Sprys' African Adventure." I have tried everything I can think of to correct it, however I can't change the title without starting a whole new blog. So sorry Rod but thanks for trying to help us.
Packing has been fun with our attempt to stay less than forty-four pounds each. Well John is about 30 pounds, but Shirley's is pushing the scales to the max! But it is difficult with the wide variety of weather we will be experiencing on this trip. There will be heat at the beginning of our 17 day train trip and then earlier spring type weather in Cape Town and the garden route for two weeks. Finally the last week will be in New York City where it will be late fall type weather. We aren't complaining, just stating the facts.
Well it is almost time to take off to the airport and actually start this adventure. Please take time to write a brief comment on these blogs so we know that they are getting through to you.
Take care...
john & Shirley
