Scandalous! Nov. 3, 2012

Well we have our bananas for breakfast from the gas station next door, which doesn't have gas, but everything else. A great many of the people at our hotel are disappointed this morning as they are the marathon runners who have just heard that the marathon has been cancelled. From our observation this decision to cancel the marathon should have been made at the first of the week before all these people flew into NYC on Thursday and Friday. But then again they know have all their money and aren't trying to put on a run when the city hasn't even got a transportation system that can get people to the start line!!
We bought a three day pass for the subway or as they say here "trains" and tried to get to MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) (pictures to follow). Took the wrong train! Followed john's directions instead of Shirley's. But the walk was good for both of us although really cold today. Left museum and walked to theatre for Scandalous. Got there 1/2 hour early so went to Starbucks and talked to several people who are here for marathon. This theatre production is wonderful - fun, serious, historic, religious and just put together well. It was written by Kathy Lee Gifford, you remember her from Kathy and Regis. Anyway we loved it!!Left here and decided that we would have a decent dinner tonight and after $130 for which we shared a bottle of wine and a steak (YES we shared the steak) we tried to get back to our hotel. Of course the "N Train" was now broken and we couldn't get back to Queens via the subway, without walking back the 12 city blocks we had just walked down. Shirley lost her cool when no taxis would stop, so when we got to a stop-light Shirley jumped at the first taxi asking the driver where he was headed, when he said he was going to Queens but had passengers. Shirley opened the door and said "you don't mind sharing do you?" as she jumped in pushing the fee paying passenger over!!! I of course followed with my mouth wide opened getting in beside the driver. When we got across the bridge and at the first stoplight, we jumped out and john gave the driver $10 and Shirley told the other passengers that john had paid part of their fare. Another great day in NYC and another adventure with my love!

Special exhibit of kindergarten equipment and school supplies - it was great!
Starry Starry Night - Van Gogh (A Free Mason of note!)

A cup made from fur!! I am sure I could be an artist when you see some of this stuff!!

A picture inside the theatre before they told me you can't take a picture.

We are going to see this tomorrow night.
This is a cheap parking garage. We saw one earlier that started at $29.00 an hour!!
