The Panorama Drive Oct 9, 2012

Now in Kaapmulden, South Africa, only 26*C and combination of sun and drizzle. We start out early on the mini buses and visit a small town where we buy a road map book from a used book seller, as well as two of Bryce Courtenay's books. Drive to Pilgrims Rest, a small historic town honouring the miners of the area. Even saw an old Masonic Lodge. Beautiful green landscape compared to the brown and red of Zimbabwe. Drove to a lookout called "God's Window" and took in the wonderful vistas of the low veld! We hiked to the top of the small rain forest (No one else from our bus did this hike and thus they were all waiting in the bust when we got back down. Had lunch and even free wifi - however no emails from our friends, we gathered because we were unable to send out our blogs people had forgotten about us. Traveled on to Blyde canyon and saw some magnificent Pot Holes and rock formations! Went on to the "The Three Rondavels" rock formations that look like native homes. Long and windy road back to the train - one of the guides was car sick on the way back so that tells you how windy the road was coming back!
